Chad's Artisan Statement:
Art is
the oldest form of expression and personal creativity known to man. From Neanderthal
cave paintings to the design and implementation of tools used to help
make primitive life easier, art has existed longer than the spoken
or written word.

|
In
today's environment art represents more than just a visual stimulus. In
addition to being pleasing to the eye, quality art should also be thought
provoking and sometimes even controversial. It can, and probably even should, mean
different things to different people. If any given art work doesn't lead
to further conversation or argument between two or more people viewing
it, than it probably isn't the most effective piece of art to begin with.

From
a more personal standpoint, art is a yearning from within, something
to show off my creative side. It brings me great pleasure
to provide art sculpture that is always a conversation piece.

Display
and presentation has a lot to do with defining the fine line that separates
art from everything else. An artist's own perspective, experience and thought
process should be relayed in his or her artwork. My passion and background
falls in the area of wood work and wood sculpture. The expression
of art through my interpretation is demonstrated in wood textures and the use of
different species to create specific effects and contrasts. I
also incorporate a repeated hole or circle in varying patterns to help
express my own unique look and feel.

As
I continue to grow and change, my art changes with me. As I mentioned earlier, one's art
reflects one's mind at the time the piece is conceived and
produced. My work is a study in contrast, because that's what how I view life.
Man verses women, good verses evil, light verses dark, life
seems to hold together precipitously by the attraction and repulsion of
opposite forces.
